Park Chan-Wook’s “The Handmaiden” is many things – on the one hand it’s a complicated period tale about betrayal and the long con in 1930s-era colonial Korea and Japan.
On the other hand it is also an incredibly lurid down and dirty genre piece full of explicit lesbian sex, rampant kink, hints of hentai and more. So far it has only played the festival circuit, in a few weeks though it’ll score a theatrical run.
Today, a new international trailer is out for the wild film which stars Kim Min-hee, Ha Jung-woo, Kim Tae-ri and Cho Jin-woong. The film is currently slated to open in cinemas on October 14th.
