The domestic trailer for Martin Scorsese’s new film “Silence” was one of the year’s best previews. Today comes a new international trailer that can’t quite live up to that first trailer, and gives away a bit too much, but nevertheless is stunning in its own right.
Adam Driver, Andrew Garfield and Liam Neeson star in this story of missionaries in the 17th century who are persecuted for practicing their faith in Japan. The film has scored a very impressive 84/100 on Metacritic which puts it amongst the year’s best dozen or so films.
Neeson recently revealed that the film was made on a much tighter budget than you’d expect with the actors all working for scale and Scorsese himself apparently not taking a salary at all. “Silence” opens on December 23rd.
