“Inspector Rebus” Set To Be Remade

Eleventh Hour Films has acquired film rights to Ian Rankin’s “Inspector Rebus” series of detective novels with plans for a contemporary TV series remake.

“’71” writer Gregory Burke will pen the contemporary adaptation about Inspector John Rebus, a hardboiled Edinburgh cop with a tendency to bend rules. The new take is said to be “fresh and revisionist”.

“The Mummy” trilogy actor John Hannah and later “The Hobbit” actor Ken Stott took on the role in fourteen telemovie adaptations which aired on ITV in the early part of last decade.
