Inarritu Turns On The Gore For “Revenant”

“Babel” and “Biutiful” director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu has been set to direct the western tale “The Revenant” at Warner Bros. Pictures and Anonymous Content reports Variety.

Based on the 2003 novel by Michael Punke, the 1823-set story follows a fur trapper in the American West who is mauled by a grizzly bear, robbed by his two aides and left to die.

He survives though and traverses hundred of miles of uncharted wilderness to exact his revenge. Mark L. Smith adapted the script while Steve Golin, David Kanter and Keith Redmon will produce.
