Troy Nixey’s “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”, the Guillermo del Toro-produced feature film remake of the 1973 Gothic horror ABC TV movie, has set a January 21st 2011 release date reports Variety.
The story centers on a young girl (Bailee Madison), sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes) who discovers sinister creatures that live in a formerly sealed off basement fireplace.
The project was one of the six films that Disney’s Miramax Films division had left over after its closure in January this year.
‘Dark’ marks the fourth film of the six which the studio has announced release dates for – “The Switch” in August, “The Tempest” in December and “Gnomeo and Juliet” in February. Still no word on the fate of the remaining two – “The Debt” and “Last Night”.
