“Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas, “iZombie” writer Heather V. Regnier, “The Spy Who Dumped Me” director Susanna Fogel and Warner Horizon Scripted Television are all teaming for the female P.I. drama “Dicks” which is in development at USA Network.
Dubbed “The Big Lebowski meets Broad City,” the story follows Phyllis Roarke who returns home to Los Angeles after she is fired from her job at the White House.
She soon has her government-issued cell phone stolen by a gang at a house party. To get it back, she must reconnect with her two estranged best friends from high school.
As de facto private investigators they stumble into a citywide conspiracy involving a notorious mobster, a washed-up screenwriter, and a lemur named Darwin.
Regnier and Fogel executive produce with Thomas, with Reigner penning and Fogel directing the pilot. Should USA pass, the upcoming NBCUniversal streaming platform may also serve as the show’s potential home.
