Illumination & Universal Set Plans Through 2023

“Minions” and “The Secret Life of Pets” creators Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures have mapped out the next six years of their on screen collaborations together.

Today, Illumination announced four new release dates which are being set aside for their projects. Those dates: Friday, July 2nd 2021; Friday, July 1st 2022; Wednesday, December 21st 2022; and Friday, June 30th 2023.

Which movies are coming on those dates are not yet set. The company currently has several films in development though – “The Cat in the Hat,” “Flanimals,” “Pluto,” “Johnny Express,” an Ugly Dolls film and an adaptation of the novel “Lockwood & Co.: The Screaming Staircase”.

The four join the five films the companies have announced already including “Despicable Me 3” on June 30th this year, “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” on November 9th 2018, “The Secret Life of Pets 2” on July 3rd 2019, “Minions 2” on July 3rd 2020 and “Sing 2” on December 25th 2020.
