Idris Elba is in final negotiations to both perform and provide the voice for the killer tiger Shere Khan in Jon Favreau’s live-action “The Jungle Book” adaptation at Disney Pictures.
In the work, Shere Khan is a deadly tiger who stalks and threaten to kill jungle boy and hero Mowgli. Robert Legato (“Avatar”) will oversee the motion capture elements of the film based on Rudyard Kipling’s novel.
Disney is in a race to beat a rival “Jungle Book” project in the works at Warner Brothers. That film had Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu attached to direct, but he left a few weeks ago and no replacement has yet been announced.
