Iannucci’s “Stalin” Leads TIFF 2017 Platform Films

The Toronto International Film Festival has unveiled the roster for their Platform program for 2017 today, the juried competition category which “Moonlight” won last year and went on to Best Picture Oscar glory. “Jackie,” “Goldstone” & “Lady Macbeth” were also showcased in that category.

The highlights this year are the world premiere of “The Thick of It” and “Veep” creator Armando Iannucci’s darkly comic “The Death of Stalin” which will open the category. Other notable entries include Mike White’s “Brad’s Status,” Clio Barnard’s “Dark River,” Lisa Langseth’s “Euphoria” starring Alicia Vikander and Eva Green, and Warwick Thornton’s “Sweet Country”.
