Italian helmer Luca Guadagnino (“I Am Love”) is set to make his first English-language film with the help of Studiocanal and Ridley and Tony Scott’s Scott Free reports Variety.
Set on the island of Pantelleria, south of Sicily, Guadagnino describes it as “a rock ‘n’ roll anthem of sex, love, murder and emotional rescue: A dive into the politics of desire between man and woman where one plus one makes four on the raw island of Pantelleria, lost in the Mediterranean.”
Guadagnino penned the script and is assembling a U.S. and European cast for the sub-$30 million feature. Studiocanal and Scott Free are presently considering whether to bring in a U.S. distribution partner onboard. Michael Costigan is producing.
