Hush, Tompkins, Quinn Coming To “Gotham”?

A major panel took place at the New York Comic Con this weekend for FOX’s Batman prequel series “Gotham” with executive producer and pilot director Danny Cannon clearing up some speculation and revealing a few new bits of news.

First up, Nicholas D’Agosto will make his first appearance as Gotham City District Attorney assistant Harvey Dent in the ninth episode of the first season. The lethal serial killer character Victor Zsasz is also confirmed to be showing up in the seventh episode.

Cannon also confirmed to CBM that actor Jon Beavers is NOT playing The Joker. Beavers played a not-so-great comedian in the pilot episode of the series which led to much speculation that this was an early version of the Clown Prince of Crime. Cannon says their version won’t be along Alan Moore’s “The Killing Joke” lines, rather they’re going “way, way back” and their take on the character “probably isn’t telling jokes yet”. Will we see The Joker’s sidekick Harley Quinn? “We’ll get there” says Cannon.

One thing more likely is ‘The Court of Owls,’ an organised crime group and secret society from The New 52 run of the comic. It is made up of some of Gotham City’s oldest and wealthiest families who use murder and money to wield political influence. Asked about their potential appearance, Cannon says: “We are sneaking in a few things in Season 1. And if FOX lets us have a Season 2, there’s no end to what you will see from them.”

Finally, in a separate interview with IGN, Cannon confirmed that Tommy Elliot and Leslie Thompkins will be featured in upcoming episodes, and casting for those roles will be announced this week.

Thompkins will appear whilst Jim Gordon is going through a “very tough time” in his life. Elliot, who becomes the villain Hush, is more of an ‘easter egg’ (ie. likely just a reference for now).
