The full version of Bong Joon-ho’s “Snowpiercer” is set to screen shortly at the Berlin International Film Festival where more debate over Harvey Weinstein’s desire to edit the film will no doubt continue.
John Hurt, another of the film’s stars, recently attended the Critics’ Circle Awards in London where he made his position very clear on the talk of slimming down the acclaimed post-apocalyptic movie. He tells HeyUGuys:
“It’s a wonderful film, I’ve seen it. And I want it to be shown in the English speaking territories in its full version. And I’m not in agreement with Harvey Weinstein who wants to cut twenty minutes out of it, because I know what he’ll cut out.
What I can do is support the Korean [production] company, and Bong Joon-ho, who is a consummate director. It’s a wonderful film, and I would hate to see it tinkered with.”
Hurt also says that while Weinstein champions some risky projects, he ultimately “doesn’t trust his directors.”
