Hulu is experimenting with its formatting with the announcement today that the streaming giant will adopt the Netflix and Amazon binge model in relation to its new darkly comedic psychic drama “Shut Eye”.
All ten episodes of the forthcoming Jeffrey Donovan and KaDee Strickland-led series will stream on the service beginning Wednesday, December 7th.
Set in the underground world of Los Angeles storefront psychics and the organized crime syndicate that runs them. Donovan plays Charlie Haverford, a disgruntled player in the organization who finds his cynical worldview challenged when he starts to experience visions that may or may not be real.
Sources indicate the release change is currently only for “Shut Eye” as the streamer looks to capitalize on the holidays when viewers will have more time to binge-watch content.
Rollout strategies will continue to be determined on a series-to-series basis, an approach also adopted by Amazon.
