Hulu Plans Hitchhikers Guide Tv Series

Douglas Adams’ iconic sci-fi comedy “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is scoring a new TV series adaptation being developed by streaming giant Hulu.

Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “Bates Motel,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”) and “Wonder Woman” scribe Jason Fuchs are both developing the adaptation to be produced by ABC Signature.

The property originated as a comedy radio series and became a hugely successful series of five novels as it followed the intergalactic adventures of hapless Englishman Arthur Dent.

Dent is one of the few humans to survive the complete obliteration of the Earth in the opening chapters of the book due to it being demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass.

Cuse and Fuchs will write, executive produce and showrun the proposed series which is being dubbed a modern updating and follows on from the famed UK TV serial and later the 2005 lavish feature film adaptation with Martin Freeman, Sam Rockwell, Mos Def and Alan Rickman.
