The third “Iron Man” opens in two weeks internationally and three weeks in the United States, meaning the first industry tracking figures for the film have emerged.
To say that the film is headed for a large opening weekend is an understatement. According to Deadline, the film is looking at a massive $125+ million opening weekend right now – above that of “Iron Man 2”.
Take into account that figure is three weeks out, the estimates generally get higher the closer we get to release. In fact, total awareness numbers are “in the 90s while definite interest is at 67”. That latter figure is higher than “The Avengers,” a film which went on to open with a $207 million weekend haul.
