Netflix has extended the production hiatus of its original series “House of Cards” in the wake of the ongoing investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against star Kevin Spacey.
The series suspended production on November 3rd following news first breaking of Spacey’s alleged misconduct. The plan was to resume today but backers Media Rights Capital have informed cast and crew the hiatus has been extended an additional two weeks, through December 8th, and the crew will continue to be paid during the break.
In addition to the writers, there will be a small contingency of office/accounting staff who will remain in the production office on a continuous basis. Producers are reportedly exploring ways to write Spacey’s character out of the show and/or possibly spin it off.
