Meryl Streep, James Gandolfini and Philip Seymour Hoffman may team up for the Mike Nichols-directed drama “Great Hope Springs” at Mandate Pictures reports Vulture.
Penned by Vanessa Taylor, Gandolfini and Streep would play a couple married for three decades who must decide whether to continue with the arrangement during an intense weekend of counselling. Jeff Bridges was previously reported as being set to play the husband, but the deal didn’t ultimately happen.
With Paul Thomas Anderson’s religion-themed project hitting the skids and freeing up his schedule, Philip Seymour Hoffman now looks to be set for the role of their therapist. Jessie Nelson (“I Am Sam”) directs from a script by Vanessa Taylor.
Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Guymon Casady and Steve Tisch are producing. The project is aiming for filming to get underway in March.
