Homeland S4 Premiere Date & New Trailer

Showtime has announced that the upcoming fourth season of “Homeland” is scheduled to premiere on the network on October 5th. Much of the setting this time around sees Claire Danes’ Carrie Mathison in Pakistan, though the production actually moved to South Africa for the shoot (the previous three seasons were primarily filmed in North Carolina).

The network has also released some promo art and a new trailer. In the preview, there’s glimpses of new faces joining the cast including Corey Stoll, Raza Jeffrey, Suraj Sharma and Akshay Kumar along with returning supporting cast members like Rupert Friend, Mandy Patinkin and F. Murray Abraham.

Speaking at the TCA’s, showrunner/executive producer Alex Gansa admits the critical slings and lack of awards recognition for the troubled third season “hurt,” but they are “going to get back on the mountain again.” One immediate move that’s going to help? “Dana Brody will not be back for Season 4”. Another? Carrie’s bipolar disorder has stabilised.

The writers intend to make good use of the show’s best post-first season addition – developing the character of Peter Quinn whom they intend to turn into a “Brody-like foil for Carrie”. Saul will also have a more complicated role as his move into Middle East reconstruction will have an “intelligence complication”.
