Holly Hunter has signed on to star in Daniel Barnz’s “Still I Rise” and is in negotiations to star in Carlo Carlei’s “Romeo and Juliet” reports Deadline.
In ‘Rise’, Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal play two women who set out transform the quality of education at a Pittsburgh inner-city public school. Hunter will play the head of the teachers union in the Fox film.
The Julian Fellowes-scripted adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” also stars Hailee Steinfeld. No word on what Hunter’s role will be. Gabriele Muccino, Ileen Maisel and Mark Ordesky are producing.
