Hobbit, “Conan” Casting Talk False

Director Guillermo del Toro’s commented on BBC Radio 5 last week that Hugo Weaving is set to reprise his role of Elrond from “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy in the upcoming prequel “The Hobbit”.

Unfortunately someone forgot to tell Weaving himself who said in an interview this week with Moviehole that he heard the reports, but “I haven’t actually talked to anyone about it. Doesn’t mean I won’t be doing it, [I’m] just not onboard yet.” Weaving added he’d certainly like to return, it’s now a matter dealmaking and paper work it would seem.

Meanwhile Risky Biz Blog reported earlier that 41-year-old Austrian actor Roland Kickinger was in talks to play the titular role in the “Conan the Barbarian” remake at Lionsgate and Nu Image/Millennium.

That report however has been debunked by Latino Review who says “Hell no! Not even a consideration. Thank goodness. Lionsgate hasn’t hired a casting director yet.”
