Hilmar Scores Female Lead In “Mortal Engines”

Hera Hilmar (“Da Vinci’s Demons,” “The Oath”) has scored the lead female role in the Christian Rivers-directed and Peter Jackson-produced film adaptation of Philip Reeve’s “Mortal Engines” book series.

The story is set in a world many thousands of years in the future. Earth’s cities now roam the globe on huge wheels, devouring each other in a struggle for ever-diminishing resources.

On one of these massive cities, Tom Natsworthy has an unexpected encounter with a mysterious young woman from the Outlands who will change the course of his life forever.

Jackson will produce with both his “The Lord of the Rings” cohorts Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens with all three working on the screenplay. Shooting is slated to begin in New Zealand in the spring ahead of a December 14th 2018 release.
