Henry Golding is set to make his feature film acting debut as the male lead character of Nick Young in “Crazy Rich Asians” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Jon M. Chu (“Step Up,” “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”) helms the film based on Kevin Kwan’s hit book which follows Rachel Chu (Constance Wu), an American-born Chinese economics professor, who travels to her boyfriend Nick’s (Golding) hometown of Singapore for his best friend’s wedding.
Before long, his secret is out: Nick is from a family that is impossibly wealthy, he’s perhaps the most eligible bachelor in Asia, and every single woman in his ultra-rarefied social class is incredibly jealous of Rachel and wants to bring her down.
Michelle Yeoh is attached to play Nick’s controlling mother who disapproves of Rachel. Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and John Penotti are producing.
