Recent Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges (“Manchester by the Sea”), Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown (“American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson”), and rising young actors Kelvin Harrison Jr. (“Assassination Nation”) and Taylor Russell (Netflix’s “Lost in Space”) are in negotiations to star in the dramatic musical “Waves” for A24.
The story follows two young couples as they navigate the emotional minefield of growing up and falling in love, and is described as an “energetic, affecting anthem of contemporary teenage life”.
The film marks the third directorial effort of breakout filmmaker Trey Edward Shults following “Krisha” and “It Comes At Night”. Shults also penned the project which will be almost entirely syncopated to music, blending iconic contemporary songs with an original score by Academy Award winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Kevin Turen and Jim Wilson produce and filming kicks off in Florida next month.
