Heavy Metal Still Moving Forward

The remake/second sequel of cult 1981 animated anthology feature “Heavy Metal” has been in the works for years with all sorts of big name directors attached to direct segments at one point or another. Then in 2008, Paramount Pictures seemingly gave up on the project.

Now, Deadline New York reports that the project is still alive with the core team of David Fincher, James Cameron and Zac Snyder still interested in the project which will be an 8-9 segment anthology feature animated in 3D.

Fincher remains as producer and is seeking independent financing and distribution commitments while Blur Studios apparently remains involved to potentially animate at least some of the segments which will retain the violent and erotic pulp sci-fi tone of the original magazine and film.
