Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and director Michael Mann are set to reunite, albeit only on stage, for a “Heat” screening and Q&A moderated by filmmaker Christopher Nolan.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present the screening, a 4K DCP restoration of the iconic 1995 crime noir film, on September 7th at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The screening follows on from news a few months back that Mann was starting the book imprint Michael Mann books with one of the first projects being a “Heat” prequel novel covering the formative years of Hanna (Pacino), McCauley (De Niro), Chris (Val Kilmer) and McCauley’s accomplice Nate (Jon Voight). It’s expected that topic will come up in conversation.
