Bill Buford’s 2006 memoir “Heat” has been optioned by scribe Stan Chervin and producer Rachael Horovitz who previously worked together on the upcoming “”Moneyball”. The story chronicles Buford’s journey from an editor at the New Yorker to learning firsthand about food, and eventually becoming “kitchen slave” to famous chefs.
DreamWorks Pictures has purchased Nic Kelman’s original high-concept sci-fi spec script “Genneris”. Plot details aren’t forthcoming.
20th Century Fox has acquired the film rights to Tahereh Mafi’s upcoming young adult novel “Shatter Me”. Set in a dystopian world, the story centers on a 17-year-old girl who is imprisoned for her “fatal touch”. She must then decide if to use the power for good.

Fox 2000 has acquired film rights to Howard Blum’s non-fiction book “The Floor Of Heaven”. The book explores Charlie Siringo, an Old West cowboy who became a Pinkerton detective trying to solve the case of Yukon Gold Rush miner George Carmack whose fortune in heavy gold bars are stolen.
