HBO Sets Jon Stewart Specials & “Deuce” Date

Several major announcements from HBO today regarding some of their upcoming programming.

First up they’ve set a September 10th premiere date for “The Deuce,” George Pelecanos and David Simon’s upcoming eight-episode drama about the rise of the porn culture in New York from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s.

James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal lead a cast of barkeeps, prostitutes, pimps, cops and other night owls as they swirl through a world of sex, crime, high times and violence as porn moves out of mafia control and into legitimacy.

Next, former “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart has been set to headline two HBO comedy specials – marking his first stand-up special work since the 1996 HBO presentation “Jon Stewart: Unleavened”. Dates and locations will be announced later.

Finally comes word that Elizabeth Banks, Ed Begley, Jr., Carrie Brownstein, Bryan Cranston, Lauren Graham, Jimmy Kimmel, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad and Elizabeth Perkins are all set to guest star on the upcoming ninth season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” which returns October 1st.
