HBO has won a bidding war for the fantasy drama “Demimonde,” a new TV series from J.J. Abrams which marks the first show he’s written for TV since “Fringe” a decade ago.
The story follows a family – a scientist mother, her husband and their young daughter – who all get into a terrible car crash. After the mother winds up in a coma, her daughter begins digging through her experiments in the basement.
She winds up being transported to another world amid a battle against a monstrous, oppressive force. Her father then follows her into this new world.
Abrams has produced numerous series since, including HBO’s “Westworld,” but this is his first time back in the writer’s chair on the small screen in some time. HBO has handed out a straight-to-series order for the show, but an episode count has not yet been determined.
