After so much demand for it, HBO has confirmed that they will launch a streaming video service in 2015 which doesn’t require consumers to have a new or existing cable or satellite subscription.
HBO CEO Richard Plepler has not confirmed if the service will keep the ‘HBO Go’ name of the current existing digital subscription service used by cable subscribers.
Time Warner has not yet said how much the service will cost or what content it would offer.
The news gives ‘cord-cutters’ yet one more reason to drop expensive cable subscriptions and has many wondering if other high profile cable networks like Showtime and Starz will follow suit.
