HBO’s high-profile “Lewis and Clark” six-part mini-series has shut down production in Canada and is currently looking for a new director after the departure of John Curran almost two months after filming began in Alberta, Canada.
Based on Stephen Ambrose’s 1997 book “Undaunted Courage,” Casey Affleck and Matthias Schoenaerts star in the series about the famed 19th century explorers who went on a remarkable three-year journey to map the western United States.
Both Curran, who co-wrote the mini, and the mini’s cinematographer Rob Hardy are out of the project for “creative reasons”. In fact the whole production has paused and there’s no word as yet when filming will resume, but weather-related factors have also reportedly had an impact.
The project is being produced by Tom Hanks’ Playtone, Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and National Geographic Studios.
