In the midst of production of the final season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” the network has announced that they have greenlit one of the five pilots they’ve been working on for a spin-off series.
The successful one is penned by author and co-executive producer George R.R. Martin and writer Jane Goldman. Credits wise this spin-off will be created by Goldman and Martin and written by Goldman based on a story by her and Martin.
The project will be a prequel, set thousands of years before the events of “Game of Thrones” and chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. The series will explore the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history, the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, and the Starks of legend.
Goldman is serving as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Martin as well as Vince Gerardis and co-creator/executive producer Daniel Zelman. The project is presently untitled.
