HBO has set up two new series projects in the days following its TCA press tour announcement.
First up, it has picked up the drama “Euphoria” to series with both Drake and Future the Prince joining the show as executive producers. A remake of the Israeli series, the story follows a group of high school students as they navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.
Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie and Storm Reid star. All episodes of the series are being written by Sam Levinson, who will also serve as executive producer. Augustine Frizzell directed the pilot and A24 will produce.
Also on the way is a half-hour HBO comedy series from podcaster, vlogger, and comedian Kid Fury. Lena Waithe also executive produces the untitled project which is described as a surreal dark comedy.
The story follows a twentysomething sarcastic gay black man navigating adulthood and responsibility in New York City while struggling to wrap his head around his undiagnosed clinical depression. Fury will serve as writer and co-executive producer.
