Following a photo yesterday from producer Damon Lindelof indicating a writer’s room has been opened, HBO has given a formal pilot green light to a TV series adaptation of Alan Moore’s iconic comic “Watchmen”.
Specifically the network has given a formal pilot green light to the project, and have ordered backup scripts. Should they met the network’s approval, it’ll go to series.
The satirical and dystopian take on the superhero genre is set in an alternate history in the year 1985 at the height of the Cold War between the U.S. and Soviet Union.
A group of mostly retired American superheroes investigate the murder of one of their own and in the process uncover a conspiracy that could change the course of history.
Zack Snyder, who is not involved in the TV series, previously adapted the work for the big screen in 2009.
