HBO has handed out a series order for a TV adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s novel “The Time Traveler’s Wife”.
The story follows Henry DeTamble, an adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. The couple’s passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures them in an impossibly romantic trap.
Emmy winner and former “Doctor Who” showrunner Steven Moffat will adapt the script and executive produce. Moffat has a history with the work, he penned the “Doctor Who” episode “The Girl In The Fireplace” as a direct response to the novel and that episode remains one of the most acclaimed episodes of the long-running series ever created.
Sue Vertue and Brian Minchin will also executive produce. The property was previously adapted for the big screen in 2009 and starred Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams.
