“Transformers” and “My Little Pony” manufacturers Hasbro have announced “Monopoly the Musical,” a stage spectacular aiming for a Broadway debut.
The project is the first of a series of stage projects to be announced out of a new partnership between Hasbro and the Broadway producing and merchandising company The Araca Group.
The new partnership will dig into Hasbro’s library for inspiration for stage fare across theater markets from Broadway to national tours, amusement parks and cruise ships, as well as licensed content created for use by high schools, colleges and community theaters.
No creative players have yet been locked for “Monopoly the Musical,” with decisions regarding plot, setting and music still in flux. No timeline has yet been set either with the premiere of the full production looking to be at least three or four years away.
Further stage projects from Hasbro and Araca will be announced in the coming months.
