Hasbro Buys Peppa Pig Owner Eone

In a surprise deal and joint announcement made on Thursday, Hasbro has acquired Canadian company Entertainment One for $4 billion.

The deal adds characters like “Peppa Pig,” “PJ Masks,” “Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom” and “Ricky Zoom” to Hasbro’s show roster which includes “My Little Pony,” “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe”. eOne is also behind such series as ABC’s “The Rookie” HBO’s “Sharp Objects” and films like “Molly’s Game,” “The Girl on the Train” and the upcoming “1917”.

Brian Goldner, Hasbro chairman and chief executive officer says in a statement: “The acquisition of eOne adds beloved story-led global family brands that deliver strong operating returns to Hasbro’s portfolio and provides a pipeline of new brand creation driven by family-oriented storytelling, which will now include Hasbro’s IP”.
