Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner are in early discussions to play veteran lawmen in Netflix’s original film “Highwayman”.
The pair would play Frank Hamer and Manny Gault, former Texas Rangers who, at the behest of a consortium of banks, were commissioned as special investigators to assemble a posse and hunt down Depression Era outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.
John Lee Hancock (“The Founder,” “The Blind Side”) is directing the film and has re-written an earlier script by John Fusco. Casey Silver will produce.
The streaming giant is presently negotiating to extricate the project from Universal Pictures. The film has been around for many years, so long that at one time “The Sting” duo Paul Newman and Robert Redford were attached.
