Following the report earlier this month, StarWars.com has now just officially confirmed that Woody Harrelson is joining the “Star Wars” universe with a role in the 2018 Han Solo film.
The release doesn’t reveal who the actor is playing, but since the initial report was correct it would seem its suggestion of him playing a mentor to the young Han (Alden Ehrenreich) is likely valid.
There’s been plenty of speculation as to a character, but there’s no indications of any theory being correct so far. Harrelson joins Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke in an as-yet-unnamed leading role.
On the rumor front, Diego Luna talked to MTV at the Golden Globes on Sunday where he was asked if a slightly younger version of his “Rogue One” character Cassian Andor could appear on the screen in the Han Solo film. The actor became silent, saying he “doesn’t have an answer for that”.
Filming on the Han Solo film begins in London shortly under the helm of Phil Lord and Chris Miller ahead of a release in May 2018.
