With the financial success of Warners and DC’s “Suicide Squad” at the box-office this weekend, it comes as little surprise that the FOX network is trying to capitalise a little bit on that with some brief announcements about the upcoming third season of “Gotham”.
The show’s executive producer Ken Woodruff today revealed that proto-versions of ‘Squad’ members and Batman villains Killer Croc and Harley Quinn will be included down the road. Whether it will be this season though is unclear: “The Indian Hill [research facility] that exists in Gotham, that’s the bridge to these villains like killer Croc and Solomon Grundy.”
Fellow executive producer John Stephens adds that more about The Joker will be developed in coming episodes with call backs to Jerome (Cameron Monaghan): “It’s about developing the myth of the Joker, just like we’re developing the myth of Batman. It’s so we can stretch him over multiple seasons. The cult of The Joker began, and we’ll explore how that deepens and changes this year. There are underground movements where they talk about Jerome.”
The producers also confirmed that Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney will appear only in the first two episodes before vanishing for the rest of the first half of the season. She will return for the second half. Check out a tease of the new season in this combined “Gotham” S3 and “Lucifer” S2 trailer sizzle reel that has just been released.
