Kit Harington, Jessica Chastain, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates have all been confirmed to star in “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan,” the first English-language feature from acclaimed Quebecios writer/director Xavier Dolan (“Mommy,” “Tom at the Farm”).
Set ten years after the death of an American TV star he corresponded with as a teenager, a young actor (Harington) recollects the pen-pal relationship he used to have with his past idol.
Jumping between now and then, the film deals with the hardships of fame, hurdles of the movie business, and the struggles of identity and diversity in Hollywood over the past decade.
Entertainment One’s Seville International, Les Films Seville, Lyla Films and Sons of Manual will produce the project. This will be Dolan’s seventh film with his sixth, “It’s Only The End of The World,” due for release next year.
Filming on ‘Donovan’ will kick off in the Spring.
