Hannibal Lecter Ordered To Series

NBC obviously liked what they saw in the script as the network has given a full direct-to-series commitment to Gaumont’s “Hannibal”, a one-hour drama written by Bryan Fuller (“Pushing Daisies,” “Dead Like Me”) that essentially serves as a prequel to the Hannibal Lecter films.

Expanding upon the early events alluded to in Thomas Harris’ novel “Red Dragon”, the story will be set in Lecter’s early days and the time he went head-to-head with FBI agent Will Graham.

EW says the hour-long drama series order includes thirteen episodes. It’s a comfort for Fuller after “Mockingbird Lane”, his remake of “The Munsters” at the same network, was put on hold in order to fine tune it.
