Hanks To Lead “A Man Called Ove” Remake

Tom Hanks is attached to star in the remake of Hannes Holm’s popular and Oscar-nominated Swedish dark comedy-drama “A Man Called Ove”.

Based on Fredrik Backman’s debut novel, the original was the highest-grossing foreign language film in the United States in 2016.

The story follows a grumpy widower whose overall unhappiness is exacerbated when he is dumped as chairman of his neighborhood association.

Ove gives up and resolves to commit suicide, but every attempt is interrupted by some circumstance that leads him to help a needy neighbor – in the process developing new relationships that lead him on an unusual journey of introspection.

Hanks, wife Rita Wilson and producing partner Gary Goetzman will all produce along with Fredrik Wikstrom Nicastro.
