A casting breakdown for Showtime’s upcoming TV series based on the popular “HALO” video games have confirmed that the iconic primary protagonist of the games, Master Chief (aka Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy John-117), will be a series regular on the show.
The games have famously never shown the character’s face, only him wearing his signature helmet. But the casting description over on The Live Feed says the series is looking for someone to take on the role who fits the description of “a Spartan-like warrior of large build”. They add that “it is unlikely the TV version of their character will keep his face hidden under a helmet at all times”.
Other characters to be featured in the series are Dr. Halsey, a prominent figure from the games with an actress between the ages of 55-65 sought, and an Asian woman between the ages of 18-20 named Jenny who isn’t from the games. In the series, Dr. Halsey is the creator of the SPARTAN-II program which produced the elite corps of supersoldiers and their assault armor.
The new “HALO” series does not have a premiere date set, but filming is slated to begin in June in Budapest with Kyle Killen to serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner.
