After so many years in development, the screen adaptation of the popular “Halo” video game franchise is finally on the way in the form of a Showtime series.
Today the first photo has been posted of the main cast who have assembled for the table reads and are set to begin filming the series soon. The game series has sold nearly 80 million copies worldwide and revolves around the epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.
The ten-episode season will be written by showrunner and executive producer Kyle Killen (“Awake”) and will star Pablo Schreiber (“Den of Thieves”) as the famous Master Chief. Natasha McElhone (“Ronin”) will play Spartan supersoldier creator Dr. Catherine Halsey and the advanced A.I. Cortana.
Shabana Azmi is the Office of Naval Intelligence head Admiral Margaret Parangosky, Bokeem Woodbine is the morally complex privateer Soren-066, while Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac and Kate Kennedy will play other spartan soldiers.
Otto Bathurst (“Robin Hood”) helms the premiere episode for the series which will begin production soon in Budapest and aims to premiere early 2021.
