Relativity Media is in talks with Lasse Hallstrom to direct the film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel “Safe Haven” reports Deadline.
The story follows a young North Carolina woman is determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships. As she begins to fall in love, she struggles with a dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her.
Relativity Media acquired the book and had a nine-month window to develop the script before the rights reverted back to Sparks.
They made the deadline with Dana Stevens adapting the script and shooting aiming to kick off in the Fall,
Ryan Kavanaugh, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are producing. The trio and Hallstrom all collaborated on last year’s adaptation of Sparks’ “Dear John”.
