“Watchmen” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street” actor Jackie Earle Haley along with rising Aussie actress Bella Heathcote (“Beneath Hill 60,” “Twylight Zones”) are in early talks for Tim Burton’s film adaptation of the 1960s supernatural TV soap opera “Dark Shadows” for Warner Bros. Pictures reports Deadline and Variety.
The story follows the life of vampire Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) who is forced to deal with all sorts of monsters, ghosts and other supernatural creatures.
Heathcote would play a waitress whom Collins takes a shine to because of her resemblance to his long-lost love.
Seth Grahame-Smith has penned the script while Depp, Graham King, Richard Zanuck, Christi Dembrowski and David Kennedy are producing. Shooting kicks off this Spring for a 2012 release.
