Lionsgate has announced a November 4th wide release date for the Mel Gibson-directed WW2 true story feature “Hacksaw Ridge” starring Andrew Garfield, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Rachel Griffiths and Vince Vaughn. The story follows Corporal Demond Doss (Garfield), the first conscientious objector to receive the US congressional Medal of Honor.
Summit Entertainment has pushed back the Sam Worthington-led horror tale “The Shack” from November 18th to March 3rd 2017. The film, which reportedly tested well recently, follows a grieving man who receives a mysterious, personal invitation to meet with God at a place called ‘The Shack’.
Lionsgate and CBS Films have set an August 12th limited release ahead of an August 26th wide release for “Starred Up” helmer David Mackenzie’s heist thriller “Hell or High Water” starring Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine and Ben Foster. Taylor Sheridan (“Sicario”) penned the film about a divorced dad and an ex-con who embark on a daring bank robbery spree to save their family farm in New Mexico.
Finally, Open Road Films has set a November 4th limited expanding to a November 23rd wide release for the Vinny Pazienza biopic “Bleed for This” starring Miles Teller. Vinny, known as ‘The Pazmanian Devil,’ was a boxer who suffered a near-fatal car accident left him with a severed spine.
