Gyllenhaal Won’t Do “Suicide Squad”

Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly passed on an offer to play the leader of the super villain team within David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Tom Hardy was originally slated to play the role of Rick Flagg, the man who heads up this group of imprisoned super villains including Deadshot (Will Smith), The Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Boomerang (Jai Courtney). All answer to U.S. government rep Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) who sends them on dangerous, classified missions in exchange for clemency.

Hardy dropped out of the film the other week, forcing a quick scramble to find someone to replace him ahead of production kicking off in April. Gyllenhaal was thought to be the studio’s choice, but it looks like he wasn’t interested. No word yet as to who may take on the role.
