Gyllenhaal Replaces Eminem On “Southpaw”

Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to star in Antoine Fuqua’s boxing drama “Southpaw” for The Weinstein Company and Riche Productions.

Originally setup at DreamWorks, then MGM, and now TWC, Eminem was attached to star in the project several years ago.

Gyllenhall will play a left-handed welterweight champ who punches his way back to glory after a tragedy, and to earn the respect of his young daughter.

“Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter penned the script. Shooting aims to begin next year.
