Maggie Gyllenhaal will replace Toni Collette in Sam Mendes’ untitled relationship comedy for Focus Features reports Variety.
John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph play a young couple who travel around the U.S. searching for a place to put down roots. Gyllenhaal will play a bohemian college professor who is an old friend of Krasinski’s character.
Dave Eggers and wife Vendela Vida penned the screenplay. Scheduling delays on the Connecticut shoot forced Collette’s departure and so Gyllenhaal begins filming her role next week.
The news comes ironically a month after Maria Bello replaced Gyllenhaal in a role on “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee” after scheduling delays. That project is also presently filming in Connecticut.
